July 15, 2009

Today was a travel day. The first part of the trip from Berlin to Koln went very smoothly. The next part, however, did not. The route we were on was apparently under construction, so we had to take another route. The train ended up sitting for an extra 1.5 hours. Thankfully, it didn't matter to us, but there were some angry passengers near us who were missing their connections! Once we got into Brussels, we headed to the hostel. I only had a very vague idea of how to get there, but we made it without a problem! After checking in, we headed over to the Grand Palace Square, a.k.a. tourist heaven! We went to a famous bar that got in the Guinness Book of World Records for having 2004 beers to choose from. They have 25 on tap! We had the famous Delirium Tremens, which was voted the best beer in the world in 1998! And boy, was it good. Then, we got some famous Belgian french fries with curry ketchup and sat in the square. Later, we went to see the famous peeing statue. Surprisingly, the statue is much smaller than I expected. We almost missed it. We then all tried a piece of handmade Belgian Chocolate! I had White Chocolate with buttercream! SO GOOD!!! Travel days are incredibly tiring, so we called it a night after that.
