June 21, 2009

I woke up this morning hearing someone getting sick in the bathroom...yuck! We staggered downstairs for breakfast and found out that it was going to be quite cold on our canyoning trip! We were very reluctant about it at first, when we were given cold, wet wetsuits and drove an hour to where it was even colder! We had to change out in the open where it was so cold, you could see your breath. The guides then took us up to the start! We started by repelling down a cliff that was probably over 100 or 200 meters high. We dropped into a river that quite literally comes from a glacier! The wetsuits helped a bit, but it was still ice cold! The experience was certainly worth it though! Walking through water, not being able to see your feet, jumping off of cliffs, sliding down rocks, flipping off zip lines, and climbing through the canyon...it was truly an amazing experience! We were way tired after that long day (about 5 hours) and Logan and Annie basically passed out for a couple of hours. I took the time to shower and do a load of laundry while I planned the next leg of our trip. Later, we were still a bit cold, so we ate some chili for dinner. We also met some guys from Florida who were firefighters. They were really cool and they taught us how to play Rummy. I like that game a lot! It was a great last night in Switzerland. Tomorrow, we start our Italian adventure!
